Nondita Surokkha was founded on the belief that the liberation of women, girls, and marginalised people is not optional, but a necessary foundation for justice, dignity, and social transformation.

Nondita Shurokkha: A journey that began with one young woman’s voice against violence on women.
In 2017, many cases of rape and sexual violence against women and children were spreading all over the country. Every day, newspapers and social media showed terrible news. These constant, horrid reports left a deep impact on Remi, a young woman from Faridpur. She realized that silence would never bring change.
She started her journey alone, visiting slums like Alipur, Bandhobpalli, Bisorjon Ghat, and Lalonbosti. She taught children about safe and unsafe touch and spoke about prevention and protest against rape. She also shared her activities on social media without fear. Many women saw her courage and joined her.
Slowly, her individual effort became a collective movement. A group of young women came together with the aim of working for women’s safety and health awareness. From their unity, “Nondita Shurokkha” was born—an organization fighting for the safety, dignity, and justice of women and girls.
Today, after facing many challenges, Nondita Shurokkha stands as a symbol of hope, resistance, and inspiration for women in Faridpur.
Our committed team works together to end gender-based violence and promote women leadership. We envision a world where women and girls are safe, liberated, and thriving.
Nondita Surokkha dreams of a vibrant world where women are celebrated as equals, empowered to forge their own paths and live life on their own terms.
We empower marginalized communities, including sex workers, the Hizra community, and underprivileged women and children, by promoting equality, human rights, and sustainable development. Guided by our slogan, we inspire women touncover their strength and create a harmonious society.

In every city and town, the sweepers — often called Methar — keep our surroundings clean. With their hands, they clear away the waste that others leave behind. Yet, while their work is essential, they remain one of the most neglected communities in society.
In Bandhabpalli, Faridpur district, sweeper families live together in overcrowded areas, surrounded by piles of waste. Children grow up playing next to garbage heaps of plastic and polythene, without access to clean spaces, quality education, or even the awareness of cleanliness itself. In these conditions, sickness spreads quickly, and opportunities for a brighter future remain painfully out of reach.
It was in response to this reality that, in 2018, we founded Hashimukh Pathshala — a free school for the children of the sweeper community. Starting with 60 children, the school opened its doors to learning, hope, and joy. Here, children not only gain access to education but also to new ideas about health, hygiene, and the environment. Together, we began encouraging them to stop using polythene and plastic, teaching them how small changes can transform their lives and community.
Hashimukh Pathshala is more than just a school — it is a promise. A promise that the children of Bandhabpalli deserve light instead of neglect, opportunity instead of exclusion, and a future filled with dignity, knowledge, and hope.

Thinking women are weak is an old unjust idea that has lasted for centuries. We don’t want to just hide this injustice- we want to remove it from the roots and make the world safe and respectful for women. A woman’s body will never be used to show someone else’s power, and her voice will never be trapped by fear.
Nondita Surokkha is not just an organization. It is a path of justice for women who have suffered, a movement for equality. Our fight is not to feel only sympathy for women, but to make them free, brave, and fully equal.
While violence against women continues, our movement will fight on.
